Grant Vortex Boiler Installation, Power Flush and Water Tank Replacement Recently Completed

Another major heating and plumbing upgrade recently completed, involving the replacement of a split Warmflow boiler with a new Grant Vortex boiler, a full central heating system power flush and the replacement of a damaged domestic water tank in the roofspace.

This particular job highlighted just how much damage a heavily contaminated heating system can cause when sludge and debris are allowed to build up over time.

Replacing the Existing Warmflow Boiler

The existing Warmflow boiler had developed a split and required replacement. We installed a new Grant Vortex boiler to provide the property with a reliable and efficient heating solution.

Grant Vortex boilers are well known for their heating performance and efficiency, making them a popular choice for homeowners looking to upgrade their oil-fired central heating systems.

However, replacing the boiler was only part of the work required at this property.

A Heating System Heavily Contaminated With Sludge

During the job, it became clear that the existing central heating system was suffering from severe contamination.

The build-up of sludge and debris had become so bad that all but one of the radiators were blocked, severely restricting the circulation of hot water throughout the property.

The contamination had also contributed to the failure of the existing heating pumps, demonstrating how problems within the pipework and radiators can affect other important components of a heating system.

To address this, we carried out a comprehensive power flush to remove the accumulated sludge and debris and help restore proper circulation throughout the central heating system.

Power flushing is particularly important when installing a replacement boiler onto an older, contaminated system. Without addressing the underlying problems, existing debris can continue to restrict water circulation and potentially cause damage to newly installed heating components.

By cleaning the system as part of the boiler changeover, we were able to tackle the contamination rather than simply fitting a new boiler and leaving the existing problems unresolved.
